BMW Pedal Code Instructions

ENTERING SELF-DIAGNOSTICS

1. Switch the ignition to the run (ON) position.
2. Depress the accelerator pedal five (5) times to the wide open throttle position within five (5) seconds.
3. Read and record any flash codes that are displayed by the check engine light.
4. Refer to the code chart for the affected component or system.

Below is an explanation on how to read the codes.

• R = 5 sec. preparation for read-out
• WS = 0.5 sec. wait for synchronization
• 1 = 2.5 sec. additional check engine lamp check
• 2 = 2.5 sec. wait for read-out
• 3 = 0.5 sec. check engine lamp on
• 4 = 0.5 sec. check engine lamp off
• 5 = 2.5 sec. time between code digits
• 6 = 2.5 sec. time between different codes
